My echoes on: The Startup Way, by Eric Ries.

Just finished The Startup Way by Eric Ries, a classic from 2017. The main concepts from this interesting read still resonate with me. One idea I find particularly compelling is the importance of shortening the distance between innovation efforts, especially in R&D, and customer needs.

Will the product fit the market need?

Innovative ideas can easily get lost in the corporate labyrinth, distancing the creators from the end-users. This can result in a poor fit with the actual market need.

Here are some key takeaways from the book:

Embed Customer Feedback Early and Often: Integrating customer insights from the very beginning makes it easier to build solutions that meet real needs. This should optimize product development efforts while enhancing customer satisfaction and building the confidence for future opportunities.

Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Break down silos and encourage teams to work closely together, understanding customer pain points and iterating innovative solutions in real-time.

Pivot to Fit: By shortening the distance with the customer, Ries advocates for a more responsive organization centered on product-market fit. The concept of pivoting from the original concept to the one that fits the need is particularly powerful.
